Joe is a retired U.S. Customs Supervisory Special Agent, who spent over 25 years of his 32 years of federal service combating narcotic smuggling via vessels throughout the South Florida area. S/A Alaimo was a supervisor of an international narcotic interdiction operation based in the Bahamas that was comprised of members of the U.S. Customs Service, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamian Defense Force.

During his career with the U.S. Customs Service, he has worn many hats, to include Customs Patrol Officer, Customs Inspector, Customs Special Agent Office of Investigations, Customs Special Agent Office of Internal Affairs, and Customs Supervisory Special Agent. S/A Alaimo was also one of the original founders of the Florida state wide narcotic interdiction operation via vessel, known as “Blue Lightning”, and remained active in Blue Lightning until his retirement. He is also certified in Federal Court, as an expert witness in the field of collection of forensic evidence. Since his retirement, in July 2000, Joe remains active as a “Field Background” Investigator for both the U.S. Customs Service and the Department of Defense.

S/A Alaimo is also a certified Security Specialist (Instructor) having taught all aspects of “Continuing Criminal Investigations” for thirteen months at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, FLETC, where curriculum included class, laboratory and practical exercises in the following areas: Execution of a Search Warrant, Continuous Case Investigation, Criminal Investigations/Case Management, Informants, Operational Planning, Questioned Documents, Report Writing, Interviewing, Surveillance, Courtroom Testimony, Undercover Operations, Use of Force, Radio Communications, VIP Protection, Undercover Technical Equipment, and Vehicle Search. These courses were imparted to law enforcement personnel from seventy-three federal law enforcement agencies. During his Law Enforcement career, he was the subject of numerous awards, plaques, and letters of appreciation to include the U.S. Customs Service Meritorious Service Award for Valor, and the Albert Gallatin Award from the Secretary of the Treasury.


His vast experience and knowledge includes the following:


- 32 years of federal law enforcement investigative and interdiction experience.
- 25 years of experience in the detection of concealed compartments aboard vessels.
- Certified security specialist (Instructor) of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
- Federal Court certified as an expert in the field of Forensic Evidence Collection Techniques.
- Conducting and managing numerous complex international felony investigations which culminated in the seizure and   forfeiture of multi-ton loads of narcotics, millions of dollars in assets and the arrest and successful prosecution of hundreds of violators.
